FT402 Production II
In this upper level production class, I worked on three films working with a different group of students each time. For each project, students were assigned different roles such as Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Sound Recordist, and Production Designer. In this class I was able to use more advanced equipment as well as work with real actors.
My absolute favorite part of this course was working with other students. Collaboration is especially important to me especially in film. I enjoy focusing on my own work and being independent but there is nothing more rewarding than sharing my work and ideas with others in order to make something great! Below you can find the following films I was proud to be a part of.

FILM 1: run for itRole: Cinematographer, Editor
In this film, my group was tasked with taking a scene sides and adapting it into a short film. Our concept was a horror film. As DP, my goal was to amplify the tension through camera movement and lens choices. I also used only one light that I placed strategically for strong shadows and contrast. Because there was so little movement in the scene my other goal was to get a variety of coverage for editing purposes. |
FIlm 2: like dust in the sandRole: Producer
As producer, it was my responsibility to oversee the production from start to finish. I delegated tasks and made sure they were completed on time. My biggest responsibility was finding a location for our film which we shot in Cape Cod. I also was in charge of setting up the casting call, auditions, and reaching out to actors about scheduling. I was able to familiarize myself with the casting websites and actors in the Boston area. I was also in charge of transportation and crafts for our set. I gained a lot of skills producing and enjoyed the challenge of handling multiple tasks at once. |

Film 3: never againRole: Cinematographer, Picture Editor
This film was an especially long but rewarding process. I began preparing for my role as DP by making a shot list, storyboarding, and preparing overheads for each scene. I was able to familiarize myself more with lighting equipment and found this film a fun time to experiment with things I hadn't tried before. Our film ran into several scheduling problems which meant I had to adapt a lot of my plans for the camera work in the scenes. However, I found it easy to adapt to last minute changes. It was very rewarding to see this film play at our final screening. |
